Our Authors
Alec Rodamilans
My name is Alec, I am a philosophy student at Mcmaster University. I am a huge fan of existentialism and contemporary thought, specifically Camus, Zizek, Merleau- Ponty and Graeber, as well I love enlightened thinkers like Rousseau and Locke. I believe that philosophy should be used to shape our generation and disrupt the status quo because of this I believe that each generation has its own philosophy, that must be kept and documented. Much like Albert Camus had the magazine Combat and Jean Paul Sarte had Les Temps modernes, my goal when I created Afarid 0f Asteroids was to achieve our own Combat. I hope you enjoy, appreciate and continue to read, what our generation has to give to you.
Dylan Boersema
Hey, I am Dylan Boersema, a first year humanities student here at McMaster University, and one of the writers for Afraid of Asteroids. I grew up in a Christian household, attending a reformed church my entire life, and I continue to do so. Because of that my interests are centred in theology, particularly Eastern Orthodoxy and the writings of the early church, as I continue to investigate my faith life.
Topics that I am most involved in are: tradition, metalogic, metaphysics, beauty, ethics, and religion/ritual. Additionally I love to write on political philosophy and social commentary.
My favourite theologians/philosophers are: St. Maximus the Confessor, St. Gregory of Nyssa, Aristotle, Epictetus, and Emmanuel Kant.
Artemis Fedorchuk
My name is Artemis Fedorchuk (any pronouns) and I am a jack of all trades/master of none who is currently studying literature at the University of Toronto. Iām a big fan of bears, the works of German anti-war novelist Erich Maria Remarque, Coke Zero, and procrastinating.
Ustad Siyah Qalam
An accidental origin, a thought as problem, a life living migration -in between, transindividuation of being-becoming.
Nick Bradbury
Hi, I'm Nick and I study all things Political Science at UofT. I find it important for people to be aware of the world around them, and I feel we have too much to gain from writing and sharing our opinions about how certain topics and events make us feel. Outside of reading political ragebait I enjoy music, video games and rock climbing.
